Abstract EN

This study attempts to extrapolate the most important constitutional requirements that control the constitutional means, which the Mauritanian constitutional legislator has allowed parliament to control the government, whether in the means that are the political responsibility of the government (the question of trust, the demand for scrutiny) or other mechanisms that are not of political responsibility such as oral and written questions and parliamentary inquiries.

the presidency also examines the various controls and procedures for implementing these controls in accordance with the requirements of the constitution and the internal regulations of the parliament (national assembly) also the various procedures and control procedures to activate these means of control in accordance with the provisions of the constitution and the provisions of the internal system of parliament (national assembly).

in addition, the study examines various constitutional issues related to the activation by parliament of the techniques of its oversight functions.

it also provides some statistics on the data available on the work of parliamentary control, the experiences of parliamentary committees of inquiry and the results of their inquiries since the creation of the Mauritanian parliament, emanating from the adoption of the amended constitution of July 20, 1991, currently in force.

the study concludes that in view of the Mauritanian constitutional legislator affected by the parliamentary rationalization introduced by the French constitution of 1958, some of its manifestations are reflected in the complexity of the procedures for lifting the means of control which fall under the political responsibility of the government.

parliament has only intensified its efforts to monitor government action by resorting to oral and written questions to members of the government and by forming committees to investigate government actions and procedures related to public policies of the state.
