Abstract EN

This article aims to address some of the features of the intellectual challenges that are faced by the contemporary Saudi family, be they related to legal or value systems.

Family is the cornerstone of the community; it is the primary cultural vessel for its individual members.

In fact, families in all communities without exception face many challenges that are related to knowledge, belief, arts, morality, laws, customs, traditions and values among others.

Thus, this study tackles three significant issues that are of substantial importance both to the individual and the community as a whole, constituting the four topics of the study : the first topic addresses the intellectual estrangement, the second topic addresses the intellectual extremism, and the third topic addresses the intellectual moderation.

Each topic was addressed from several perspectives, involving an overview of the features of each issue and its respective impact on both the individual and the community.

The fourth topic reviews the role of the family in this ongoing confrontation with the various challenges from three vantage points, namely the intellectual point, the value-related point and the legal point.
