Urban design principles have evolved according to the development of urban design academic contributions.

the problem of the research can be identified in the absence of a clear indicator to measure the quality of life of the residents who use the existing residential centers in Jubail Industrial City, which negatively affects the attractiveness of these centers and is not in line with the city’s goals to remain a crowded environment that attracts qualified cadres in a vibrant, effective and productive society.

this paper aims to monitor the design elements in the centers of residential neighborhoods in Jubail and their suitability in applying urban design standards using the case study model of the Al-Fanateer center.

the research paper used 12 design criteria extracted from design principles and according to three design principles : creating the center as a product and sustainable, enabling people to coexist in the center, and commanding and controlling the center.

the paper concluded that the stages of development of the general plan of the city, have directly affected the centers of the existing residential neighborhoods.

the results also found that the residential neighborhood center in Jubail Industrial City achieved 8 design criteria out of 12 criteria.

the paper recommends strengthening the positive elements in the residential neighborhood and benefiting from them in the future designs of the rest of the neighborhoods in the city.
