The study seeks to identify the role of community participation in achieving sustainable local development, as the community is the cornerstone in achieving growth and has an essential and significant role in influencing development.

to cover the practical side of this study, the study attempts to test the validity of its hypotheses, answer its questions, and derive its results by relying on a questionnaire designed for this study by the recognized practical steps.

Where (500) valid questionnaires were adopted to analyze and extract the results out of (800) questionnaires distributed to the residents of Zarqa Governorate who reside within the boundaries of Zarqa Municipality.

the study found a positive impact of social participation on achieving sustainable development in its dimensions (economic development, social development, environmental preservation) in the Zarqa Governorate.

accordingly, the study recommends the need to take advantage of the proposed frameworks to activate community partnership in various developmental areas in society, in addition to working to urge members of the local community to actively participate in the development process by raising their awareness of the importance of their participation and the roles that they can play and the positive effects of that.
