Using children literature as an extracurricular activity in the EFL classrooms : a case study

It is hypothesized that using children literature as an extracurricular activity (ECA) could be useful for EFL students.

therefore, this paper attempted to investigate the effect of children literature, represented by the abridged novels, tom sawyer (TS) and Alice's Adventures in the Wonderland (AAW), on enhancing seventh grade students' English language skills at Al-Hayah Private English school.

the data was collected through a survey questionnaire and pre-post- tests.

the survey aims at exploring students' attitudes and the test to measure the performance of the students in the experimental group.

the findings revealed that there are statistically significant differences in students' attitudes toward using children literature as an ECA and children literature played a major role in enhancing students' language skills.

it is concluded that the use of children literature as an ECA was a factor that motivated students to learn and improve their skills and performance in English.
