Abstract EN

Objective : the study seeks to identify the participation of Jordanian and Bahraini women, and their representation in the parliamentary elections during the time period between (1989-2018).

methods : the study used two approaches : the descriptive analytical method to describe the participation of Jordanian and Bahraini women in the parliamentary elections, and then analyze their participation based on the numbers and percentages that they obtained, and the comparative approach; this is to find out the similarities and differences in the participation of Jordanian and Bahraini women in the parliamentary elections and the proportions that they obtained.

results : first, the reality of Jordanian women's participation and representation prior to the 2003 elections was very weak, and starting with those elections, women's quota seats were allocated for Jordanian women in the Jordanian parliament.

this is reflected in the increase in the participation and representation of jordanian women in the parliamentary elections.

second : as for the size of Bahraini women's participation and their representation in the parliamentary elections, their participation in the parliament elections has improved since 2002, and their representation has improved since the 2006 elections.

Conclusion : the participation and representation of Jordanian and Bahraini women in the parliamentary elections differed, as Jordanian women took women's quota seats, and for Bahraini women, they were not allocated a quota.
