Abstract EN

Objective : this study aims to identify the problem of minority rights in contemporary Iraqi society and survey the opinions of some minorities in the Iraqi city of Mosul through several axes and angles, including political participation, rights and freedom guarantee, social, cultural and political challenges, and the right to self-determination.

from the minorities' perspective, the research also looks at the possibility of in tegration and social coexistence in Iraq.

methods : this research is a descriptive and analytical research that adopts a historical comparative approach for analyzing the research axes, in addition to the social sur vey method using the sampling method.

the questionnaire was used as a main tool in the research, and it included two parts : the first represen ted the initial information and data of the respondents, while the second part consisted of five axes, and the data were entered and analyzed by the statistical program (SPSS).

results : the research reached several results, the most important of which are : political participation is one of the most important problems of minority rights in Iraqi society, as it came in the first place with a percentage of (78.39%), while the axis of the right to self-determination ranked in second place with a percentage of (78.22%), and challenges occupied the third place with a percentage of (75.76%) in the sequence of axes that lead to problems regarding the rights and existence of minorities.
