Abstract EN

Objective : The current study aimed at finding out the correlation between the emotional divorce level and the social media use among Jordanian couples.

Method : The sample of the study consisted of (360) married couples.

An emotional divorce scale was prepared, and a scale for the extent of social networking sites' usage was used after verifying their psychometric features.

Results : Given the results of the investigation, several findings concerning the correlation between social media use and divorce level could be reported.

First, the level of emotional divorce and the level of use of social media sites were found to be relatively moderate on the two instruments.

Second, some significant statistical relationships with divorce level were found to be linked to the educational level, length of marriage, and the number of hours of social networking usage.

Third, some significant statistical relationship was found for the use of social media sites due to the number of usage hours.

Finally, a statistically significant correlation relationship was found between the emotional divorce level and the extent of social networking site usage.
