Abstract EN

Objective : Introductory psychology textbooks play a critical role in education as the first academic exposure to psychology as a science for psychology students and perhaps the only formal exposure to psychology for students from other disciplines.

English-language versions of these books have been subjected to thorough examination over the years; however, such research is absent in the Arab world.

Therefore, this study the first in the Arabic language aimed to examine the coverage of topics in Arabic-language introductory psychology textbooks.

Methods : Twenty-three Arabic books were obtained, and their contents were analyzed using frequencies, percentages, and averages.

Results : The study revealed that these books include a number of both standard and nontraditional psychology topics, although the proportion of content allocated to each category differs from that in English language introductory psychology textbooks.

Conclusion : I concluded with recommendations based on the results of this research.
