Abstract EN

Purpose refutation is one of Ibn Jinni's terms that appeared frequently in various styles; sometimes, he addresses it in independent topics; other times, he refers to it with casual references.

consequently, this study seeks to answer two questions : (1) How did Ibn Jinni use the purpose refutation? (2) What is the wisdom of highlighting its positions? the study aims to highlight its essence and explore how to employ it in grammatical lessons.

the importance of the study emanates from discussing a problem that has concerned grammarians for a long time.

it investigates the impact of the structure which deviates from its origin to achieve its objectives and apply grammatical rules.

besides, the study highlights the wisdom in addressing purpose refutation.

the study used a descriptive and analytical method.

of the most important results that the study reached are the following : (1) the use of ibn jinni's purpose refutation was consistent with the grammatical rule.

(2) it was prevalent with the agreement of reality and the lack of its assumption.

(3) it relied in some positions on problems that are far from the initial problem.

(4) it relied on some general rules.

(5) the recipient's conditions upon grammar-making of the syntax that is outside of his origin have been highlighted.

thus, it concluded that the syntactic symptoms such as the phenomenon of deletion is the issue that led to purpose refutation in the grammatical lesson.

it recommends re-reading the grammatical principles a critical reading that reflects the features of the grammatical thought and its foundations.
