The current study tackles the issue of media extortion, which has become a global phenomenon from which human societies are not spared.

Hardly a day passes by without media outlets reporting a victim of media extortion, by threatening to publish scandals about them, and defame them, until this phenomenon became abundant, Frequently, it threatens the security and stability of society, and threatens family and psychological problems.

How many homes are without stability, and how many people have attempted suicide, all as a result of media blackmail.

From here, the researcher addressed in his research the definition of the crime of media blackmail, its causes and effects, and its ruling and punishment in Islamic jurisprudence.
