Abstract AR
Coriandrum sativum L.
Tail-Flick.
Abstract EN
Several researches nowadays focus on studying the effectiveness of analgesics derived from natural sources.
some included the effect of coriander extracts (coriandrum sativum l.).
in this research, we investigated the possible analgesic effectiveness of coriander fruits volatile oil (CFVO) prepared by hydro-distillation on rats.
increased doses (50, 75, 100, 125, 150, 200 mg/kg) were given p.o.
and Tramadol HCI (20 mg/kg p.o.) was chosen as a positive control.
the experiment was asses by tail-flick test.
the results revealed that the CFVO in doses 75, 100, 125 mg/ kg had a dose-dependent analgesic effect (P<0.01).
the maximum possible analgesia (MPA%) reached 48.28% for 125 mg/kg CFVO group at the time of major response, which is less than the MPA% for tramadol group (61.13%) at the time of the major response.
consequently, it appeared that CFVO had a significant analgesic effect, however, we need more researches to evaluate the effectiveness on different types of pain, also to study the pharmacokinetic properties.
