Abstract EN

The current research aims to build a proposed false friend’s dictionary between Arabic and other languages (Arabic and Turkish as a case study) via two scopes: theoretical and applied.

The theoretical shows an overview of false friend’s dictionaries, their types and the reasons for their emergence, then shows the importance of false friend’s dictionaries for in teaching languages, how to build them, the criteria that should be reckoned with when building them, and paradigms for false friend’s dictionaries in Western studies.

However, the applied scope deals with a suggested false friend’s dictionary between Arabic and Turkish.

This is based on the descriptive analytical method; Because false friends dictionary abound among neighboring languages and less in divergent languages, hence, this phenomenon appears due to borrowing between languages, and it affects Turkish-speaking Arabic learners The research tools consisted of two tools, the first: a questionnaire of criteria for constructing dictionaries of deceptive isotopes between Arabic and other languages, and the second: a list of deceptive isotopes between Arabic and the Turkish language and the reasons for the semantic differences that occurred in the meanings of vocabulary.

The research reached several results, including: a list of construction criteria Dictionaries of deceptive isotopes between languages consisted of (7) main criteria, to which belong (42) sub-indicators, and a list of deceptive isotopes between Arabic and Turkish consisted of (171) deceptive isotopes between the two languages.
