A premarital check-up is crucial for soon-to-be married couples considering that it, most importantly, prevents the risks of transmitting any genetic disease to their future children.

Undertaking such kinds of check-ups and working on legislating them indicates the existence of an awareness of health education among the members of a community.

The purpose of taking premarital medical check up for the soon-to-be-married couples is to find out if there are any genetic blood diseases, such as sickle cell anemia and thalassemia, and/or certain infectious diseases, for example, hepatitis B virus, hepatitis C virus, acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).

Medical advice is essential to inform those couples of the possibility of transmission diseases to the other side or future children, and to provide options and alternatives to assist them planning for a healthy family.

Methodologically, the research used a social survey method in the form of sampling to collect the data.

The results of the study revealed that more than half of the sample members (108), and at the percentage (54%), confirmed that it is essential to run medical check-ups before marriage.
