Abstract EN

This study dealt with the paradoxical style as one of the techniques used in novel writing in which Ghazi Al-Qusaibi structured most of his novelist texts.

It has been apparent that paradox in the novels of Ghazi Al-Qusaibi constitutes a departure from the ordinary; it does not aim to validate the issues raised by the paradox, but it rather aims to reveal the vision of the world.

In addition to what has been noticed with regard to the lack of interest in the phenomenon of paradox in studies that dealt with Ghazi Al-Qusaibi’s novels.

To this end, the study focused on the levels of occurrence of the paradox in the narrative stances, that is: through the way the narrative act was carried out, by means of two elements: the character and the event in search of the act of the paradox and its impact on the formation of characters’ patterns.

In order to answer the questions of the research, the semiotic approach was adopted being an apt approach to monitor the manifestations of the semantic process of the revealing signs of the network of relationships that arise between the elements of the narrative and contributing to the formation of a holistic vision of literary work.

Perhaps it is ironic that Al-Qusaibi tried to form a narrative of the paradox through the narrative paradox that can be described as the narrative of freedom, where the concept of freedom in all its political, social and cultural manifestations shaped the deep structure of Al-Qusaibi novels.
