Abstract EN

This research deals with the structure of persona and its use in very short stories; a contemporary literary genre based on artistic characteristics that distinguish it from other modern narrations.

The study is conducted through an analysis of some samples of stories from Fatimah Waheedi’s collection Maa Lan Taquuluhu Shehrazad (What Shahrazad will not Say).

It is based on the study of the technique and its significance in alleviating direct and lyrical images via an artistic means that gives the writer’s voice an objective tone through one of the characters.

This tone, from the heritage or from reality, is borrowed by the creative author to talk through it about a contemporary experience.

And to this end, persona becomes a theatrical intermediary between the text and the reader.
