Abstract EN

The study aimed at identifying the degree of computer use in teaching in primary schools in Al-Mahrah governorate from the point of view of teachers and their attitudes towards it.

It adopted the descriptive analytical approach and a questionnaire as an instrument for collecting data.

The questionnaire consisted of two domains; the first domain is the use of computers in the writing tasks related to teaching, while the second domain is the use of computers as teaching aids, as well as a measure of the attitude towards the use of computers in teaching.

The two instruments were applied to a sample of (130) primary school teachers.

Several results were reached at, the most important of which are: The level of computer use recorded an average degree of the instrument as a whole, with an average of (3.014).

In the first domain, written tasks related to teaching work recorded a mean of (3.16), with an average degree of use, while in the domain of employing computers as teaching aids, it scored (2.55), with a weak degree of use.

As for the teachers’ attitudes towards the use of computers in teaching, the average was (3.41), with a high attitude towards using computers.

Statistically significant differences in the first and second domains have been observed due to the gender variable in favor of males, while there were no significant differences in the third domain, and the instrument as a whole.

However, statistically significant differences were observed in the first and second domains and on the total mean of the instrument attributed to the experience variable, in favor of those with experience of ten years or more, compared to the category of those with less than five years’ experience.

There were no significant differences with regard to the domain of teachers’ attitude towards the use of computers in teaching.

Likewise, no statistically significant differences were noted in the instrument’s domains attributed to the academic qualification variable.

Moreover, the results indicated a positive correlation between the teachers’ attitudes towards using computers in teaching and the degree of computer use.

Several recommendations and suggestions were put forward in light of the findings of the study.
