This study came with the aim of reading the Arab heritage and rooting for the theories of modernist criticism found in the folds of his books, specifically the semiotic theory, which is one of the most prominent statements of modernist criticism that is concerned with the study of the linguistic and non-linguistic sign, as it has origins in the ancient heritage map as well as grounds upon which it relied.

one of the most prominent findings of this study is that heritage is the origin and its components must be discussed in order to establish an Arab theory whose origin is in the heritage, and because every critical theory has cognitive references that it has formed and must be returned to, and that semiotics as a modern critical theory has roots in the Arab heritage according to the scholars of fundamentals and interpretation, it was associated with the science of semantics, as al-Jahiz referred to it through his book “al-Baya wa al-Tabeen” “eloquence and demonstrations” and that the s eloquence for him is the apparent indication of the hidden meaning, and it is the sign in the contemporary concept, as he linked it to pronunciation, sign, calligraphy, contract, and Nusbah.

in addition to this, we find that monitoring the phenomena of modernity in heritage Arab cannot be identified unless there is a correct perception of the old because understanding the past helps to understand the future.
