Abstract EN

This research deals with the linguistic listening and its importance in the educational process at the university level, its role in the communication process between the lecturer and the student and how to improve this skill for the university student.

This is so because the skill of listening is one of the skills that are based on a set of complicated mental processes, as it is linked with the skill of thinking.

The two skills play the core role in the educational process; the educational process cannot take place without listening, and listening cannot occur without thinking.

The speaker serves as a sender and the listener as a receiver, and both parties must proceed from the mental aspect which represents the main focus in the listening process.
