Abstract EN

The study aims at developing the teacher preparation system in the Republic of Yemen in light of the Malaysian experience.

The study adopted the comparative analytical approach being the most suitable approach to study the state of affairs of the educational system including the teacher preparation system, of different countries in order to compare and benefit from the successful experiences in evaluating, reforming, and developing teacher preparation systems and programs.

One of the most prominent findings of the study was the weak coordination and integration between preparation institutions and teachers' work bodies from the concerned ministries of education in Yemen compared to Malaysia.

Also, the unplanned huge acceptance ratio at faculties of education due to absence or inadequacy of the standards of acceptance in comparison to Malaysia which determines in advance the required number of accepted candidates in the preparation programs.

Moreover, weakness in providing the student teacher with research and communication skills, as well as the weak use of modern teaching strategies and technological innovations in the teacher preparation program in Yemen compared to Malaysia.

Therefore, the study recommended the need to work on effective coordination and integration among the preparation institutions and the concerned authorities in accordance with a national strategy for the teacher preparation system in Yemen, and to raise the standards for students' admission in teacher preparation programs, so that students with high skills and abilities are accepted.

In addition to the need to pay attention to the use of modern teaching strategies, techniques, and e-learning, and focusing on the research aspect and its skills, as well as communicating and interacting more.
