Abstract EN

The current study aimed to investigate the relationship between acquisition of sign language for the deaf and family interaction.

the study sample consisted of (30) mothers of deaf children, the ages of the mothers ranged from (25-40) years, with an average age of (31.55) and a standard deviation of (5.24).

and the number of their children was (30) children with hearing disabilities, including (15) males, (15) females, and the ages of the children ranged between (3-6) years, with an average age of (4.2) and a standard deviation (1.23).

with IQ (100-110) from the social rehabilitation association for the disabled in Sharkia governorate.

the study tools consisted of Stanford Binet scale for intelligence, standardized by Mahmoud Elsayed abo al-nil, fifth edition (2011), socio-economic and cultural level scale (Muhammad Saffan and Doaa Khattab, 2016), family interaction scale (version of mother) (by the researcher), sign concepts scale of deaf children (by the researcher).

the study showed that there is a statistical significance positive correlational relationship between the study sample scores as a whole on sign concepts scale and its dimensions for deaf children and the scores of mothers on the family interaction scale and its dimensions at (0.01), and that there is a statistically significant correlation relationship between sign concepts level and IQ in deaf children at (0.01), and also showed that there is in a statistically significant inverse correlation relationship between sign concepts level and the chronological age of deaf children at (0.01).

there is a statistically significant correlation between sign concepts level and socio-economic and cultural level of deaf children.

there are statistically significant differences between the mean scores of deaf children on sign concepts scale, due to gender variable (male-female) favoring females.
