Abstract EN

The Folktale named ‘Little Red Riding Hood ‘which some scholars consider as children literature, is a very famous tale.

It is not only known among European people, but rather has international cognates.

This tale is classified in Aarne- Thompson tale type 333, ‘The Glutton’.

LRRH tells about a young girl who wears a red hood or cape, and carries a basket of food and drink to her sick grandmother.

She meets a vicious wolf who deceives the girl and devours both the child and her grandmother.

But a brave man cuts the wolf open and rescues both women.

The girl fills the wolf s’ stomach with stones which cause his death.

Due to the common elements between the LRRH and another story listed in Aarne- Thompson as tale type 123 'The Wolf and the Seven Goats’, which goes back to Classical antiquity, scholars suggest that both tales should be combined in one tale type.

Accordingly, this research intends to figure out the similarity between the Kuwaiti- Arab versions of the tale and their International counterparts.

Moreover, the article investigates the main theories that deal with LRRH, namely psychoanalytical, Mythical, Ritual, Moral, and Cautionary interpretation of the tale.

This is an indication that this tale is beyond the perception, that is it a children's tale, rather it is mirror that reflects the humanitarian collective conscience.

Thus, the researchers found that it is important to study this tale with mentioned the Kuwaiti and Arabic similar text that they got, and their aim is to let the Arabic reader know the value of the tale in emphasizing the unity of human thought.
