This paper intends to explore the correlation between the issue of climate change and the shift towards green jobs from a critical capitalist approach.

It seeks to re-examine the risks of conducting "business as usual" and the impasse of transforming jobs and instruments adopted as part of the sustainable growth approach.

Indeed, globalization has involved intense dependence on fossil fuels with a disregard for social demands and sustainability.

Such globalization has deferred the creation of green jobs, maintained the accumulation of capital, and allowed unchecked labour to pollute the environment.

The creation of green jobs in the context of climate change and adaptation to its impacts, by reference to Kyoto Protocol mechanisms and subsequent amendments, remains fundamentally ideological.

Finally, the study illustrates the paradox between economic alternatives to capitalism and the social imperatives of local communities and peoples.
