Customs and traditions are considered the cultural heritage of any nation and the main source of the authenticity of societies, hence this study came to reveal the customs and traditions of weddings, feasts and celebrations as social phenomena of the ancient Egyptian families in the Byzantine era, the role of the church in them and the extent of adherence to its teachings The study also sought to highlight the concept of customs and traditions and their importance, and the results showed marriage, its celebrations, sorrows and their manifestations, and how the church played a prominent role in spreading religious teachings and concepts as it encouraged marriage and made it a positive idea and separated between legal and forbidden marriages In addition to encouraging all that is familiar and in which the spirit of cooperation and assistance between family members on occasions, except in terms of providing food or giving alms on some holidays, births, baptisms and funerals, and encouraged customs and traditions to strengthen social ties between people on the one hand and remove the differences between the layers of society on the other hand and sought to form The righteous families with the imposition of joint worship, to teach their members how to apply the virtues in their daily lives, and the spiritual father played an important role in some of these rituals.
