This article seeks to analyze Fadl al-Rahman thesis in modernizing Islam, and clarifying the important link he emphasized in his thesis between the necessity of reforming the Islamic education system, and the necessity of reviewing the interpretive heritage of the Qur’an, by deconstructing his stated and implicit statements.

and revive it in light of the new conditions, the justification for this link is the guiding power that the Qur’an text possesses on thought and practice within this nation.

based on this belief, Fadl al-Rahman says that the process of reforming the educational system in form and content inevitably passes through proposing an alternative interpretive plan that is based on new knowledge and methodological principles.

and meet the requirements of modern times, provided that it is not damaged the original identity of the Qur’an text, which is characterized by a capacity to absorb absolute time.
