Abstract EN

The big and influential role of mercenaries in armed conflicts is one of the most prominent manifestations in these conflicts, whether they are international or non-international, especially from the second half of the last century to the present day.

this role is not limited to weighting the balance of power between the warring parties, but rather it goes beyond the nature of the activity carried out by mercenaries on the battlefields.

this study aims to try shedding light on the legal status of mercenaries in accordance with the provisions of international humanitarian law, and it is divided into two parts.

in the first part, we explained the status of mercenaries through the agreements organizing armed conflicts, while the second part explained the activities of mercenaries in the perspective of international humanitarian law.

we concluded our study with conclusion that included the finding and recommendations.
