This study sheds a light on the statement found in the phonological lesson of the Imam Abu Muhammad al-Hassan bin Ali al-Omani (fifth century scholar-AH) in his book “al-Aust fi lm al-Qraat” where he primarily focused on Tajwid, phonetics, consonants, diacritics and speech etc.

it aims to describe the articulatory system of Omanis, and to elucidate the matters of phonetic composition and the functions of sounds found in the book “al-Aust Fi lm al-Qiraat the research consists of an introduction, a preface, three sections, and finally the conclusion.

one of the most crucial findings was that the Omani imam relied on conveyance and word of mouth in transmission and narration, and also transmission of texts of Arabic scholars such as al-Khalil bin Ahmed al- Farahid, ibn Jinni, Sibaweh and others.

the imam mentioned sixteen places of articulation and he distributed them among three components: firstly the throat, secondly lips, thirdly the mouth and the tongue.
