Abstract EN

Man has been a very active player in the deterioration of natural resources over various historical periods.

Tlagh and el abed basins, in north-eastern morocco, have known deep and rapid transformations that affected the various ancient systems of exploitation of livestock and the practice of agricultural activities, where the population of the region moved from nomadic to semi-nomadic, and then to settlement.

this resulted in an increase in the urbanization of the field and the variety of forms of its exploitation, in response to the increasing daily needs due to demographic growth.

on the other hand, this population growth is matched by the weakness, deterioration and fragility of natural resources.

this paper deals with the most important population characteristics and their role in the environmental dynamics and their impact on basic resources, especially soil and vegetation the purpose is to find out whether the demographic development factor is based on a local strategy that guarantees the continuity and renewal of resources and sustainable growth, or if puts pressure on the resources via a form of unreasonable exploitation which exacerbates the severity of the deterioration in the target area.
