Abstract EN

The purpose of this study is to determine the level of interest in the process of democratization in Libya after the revolution that took place on February 17, 2011, as well as to ascertain the position of public opinion with regard to participation in the elections and to disclose the requirements for casting an electoral vote.

The study was dependent on the survey approach, and it used a random sample of 400 young university students from Libya.

The research demonstrated that its credibility and reliability coefficient were correct.

The survey yielded many findings, one of which was a high level of interest in the subjects and concerns of democratic transition.

The study also revealed that a significant number of respondents endorse active engagement in the electoral process.

Efficiency as an electoral criteria placed top, with 22.2% for men compared to 27% for females; the candidate's history came in second, with 20% for males versus 23.2%; and the third position went to the economy.

When it comes to females, the public interest came in third position with 17.6%, which was much higher than males with an overall percentage of 13.8%
