This research aimed at identifying the contribution of information systems to knowledge management processes.

this is through introducing information systems and their most important main components, in addition to addressing the concept of knowledge management and clarifying its importance.

the research was also an attempt to find out the appropriate technology for knowledge management.

to achieve the objectives of the research, the descriptive approach was relied upon, by reviewing books and theoretical and field studies related to the subject.

the most important results of the research is that knowledge management systems are one of the types of information systems that manage organizational knowledge, and that knowledge in good knowledge management system does not end, because the environment changes, over times, and knowledge must be updated to reflect the changes.

the study recommended the need to continue investing in information system and knowledge management, and using them as the most important indicators of achieving competitive advantages that can open up new horizons for organizations in enhancing and strengthening their competitive position.
