Abstract EN

This study examined and analyzed the morphometric characteristics of the Wadi Soba drainage basin in Khartoum State-Sudan, using geographical information systems (GIS) and remote sensing (RS) technology.

the study aimed to emphasis the importance of morphometric characteristics that characterize the valley basin, such as the drainage network and its measurements.

furthermore, the shape of the basin, the topographic characteristics of the basin and its influences on flow and its drainage.

the study reveals that the Wadi morphometric characteristics ratio reached (0.3) with total area coverage of (2825 K2) alongside 1.5 km / km2, flow density while the valley's bifurcation ratio is 4.7, these besides other morphometric characteristics.

the study showed the importance of studying morphometric characteristics in identifying various aspects which is crucial in the geomorphological and hydrological fields that would develop and deepen the concepts of integrated and sustainable development of valley systems and the way of its management to develop plans and strategies to improve and manage water resources in these valleys.
