Abstract EN

The research aims to identify the most important elements of the demographic structure in the neighborhoods of the holy city of Karbala, which were obtained through the field study of the questionnaire form that the researcher presented to the families of the city’s residents, which amounted to a sample of (1520) forms distributed over (50) residential neighborhoods, which are the neighborhoods recorded in the city of Karbala within the census of (2009), and it is represented in the qualitative and age structure and the factors behind the spatial variation of these elements, which have their own significance at all levels and for any society, which affect and are affected by different demographic elements, studying the population structure of a region and the development of its social characteristics occupies an important position in population studies, in addition to the fact that the variation in the composition of the population leads to variations in a number of areas, especially economic, demographic and social, and mainly at the level of services.

the research relied on the descriptive and analytical approaches based on the analysis of the questionnaire for the year (2022) as data obtained from the field study, because the governorate in general is devoid of detailed data on the city’s neighborhoods, and the researcher relied on the SPSS statistical analysis program (pasw statistics 18), and reached the research found a number of results, the most important of which are that (43.7 percent) of the population of the study area are outside the labor force, and (36.6%) of the population are less than 15 years old, and the percentage of the elderly constitutes (7.1 percent).

) of the population of the study area, while the average age dependency in it was (77.7%).
