Arabic Abstract

هدفت هذه الدراسة للتحقق من فاعلية برنامج مقترح قائم على الكفاءة الإستراتيجية في تنمية أداء التحدث لدى معلمي الصف العاشر للغة الإنجليزية كلغة أجنبية.

ولتحقيق أهداف الدراسة؛ تبنى الباحث المنهج شبه التجريبي، وذلك من خلال اختيار عينة تكونت من 13 معلما من معلمي الصف العاشر الأساسي في مديرية التربية والتعليم رفح في الفصل الدراسي الثاني للسنة الدراسية 2020-2021م، واشتملت الدراسة على سبع إستراتيجيات تحدث، وهي: الإطناب، التقريب الإصلاح الذاتي، إعادة الصياغة الذاتية، طلب التوضيح، التخمين، والملخص التفسيري.

وخلال تنفيذ هذه الدراسة، تبنى الباحث اختبارا قبليا وبعديا لقسم التحدث في الايلتس "نظام اختبار اللغة الإنجليزية الدولي"؛ لقياس فعالية البرنامج في تنمية أداء التحدث، وتوظيف استراتيجيات التواصل لدى معلمي الصف العاشر الأساسي للغة الإنجليزية كلغة أجنبية.

ولقد كشفت نتائج الدراسة أن درجات المشاركين في اختبار التحدث البعدي كانت أعلى من درجات اختبار التحدث القبلي، والتي يمكن أن تعزى إلى الفوائد التي حصلوا عليها من التدريب على الإستراتيجيات، وأظهرت نتائج الاختبار البعدي أيضا تحسنا في وتيرة استخدام استراتيجيات التواصل.

وفي ضوء هذه النتائج، اقترح الباحث عقد ورش عمل لمعلمي اللغة الإنجليزية كلغة أجنبية لتدريبهم على المراحل الخمس للبرنامج المقترح للتغلب على المشكلات الناشئة عن القصور اللغوي، والتي قد تسبب صعوبات؛ وكذلك دمج الأنشطة اللغوية التواصلية القائمة على استراتيجيات التواصل المستهدفة في البرنامج التدريبي في منهج اللغة الإنجليزية من أجل فلسطين كمكون أساس لضمان محادثة يومية ناجحة لغير الناطقين بها.

English Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of a suggested program based on strategic competence in enhancing Palestinian EFL 10th grade teachers' speaking performance.

This quasi-experimental study involved all (N=13) tenth-grade male teachers who teach English in Rafah Directorate in the second semester of the academic year 2020-2021.The CSs targeted throughout the program included 7 Communication Strategies (henceforth CSs): circumlocution, approximation, self-repair, self-rephrasing, asking for clarification, guessing, and interpretive summary.

Pre- and post- IELTS speaking test was adopted to assess the effect of strategy training on language proficiency and CS use.

The findings of this study revealed that participants' post IELTS speaking scores were higher than participants' pre- IELTS speaking test scores, which are attributed to the benefits they got from strategy training.

The results of the post-test also showed improvement in the frequency of CS use.

The recommendation that can be drawn in this research is holding workshops for EFL teachers to train them on the five phases of the suggested program to overcome the problems arising due to the linguistic deficiencies which cause difficulties.

Moreover, integrating communicative language activities based on CSs targeted in the training program into English for Palestine syllabus as an essential component in ensuring successful everyday conversation for non-native speakers.
