Pompeii is one of the most prominent lost cities that has been forgotten for centuries.

the city of Pompeii was flooded in the middle of a sea of volcanic ash following the eruption of mount Vesuvius, located near the city of “Pompeii”, and as scientists and archaeologists uncovered the ruins of those cities, those ruins became rich material for artistic inspiration throughout the ages and artists were interested in photographing “Pompeii”, owing to its important status as a thriving roman settlement and a center of economic and cultural attraction, reached its extent during the first century ad at the time of the volcano disaster, which destroyed many parts of the city and covered the rest with tons of ash.

the research examines a visual study of the handling of works of art that dealt with the city of Pompeii, whether it was conceived of by life within the city before the earthquakes or showcased the city's watershed moments during the Vesuvius volcano disaster, which is the hinge event in many of the works that dealt with the city.
