The content of this article, as indicated by its title, is to ask the possible existence of a project for the secularization of politics in Anglo-Saxon thought through the "leviathan" of Thomas Hobbes.

given the nature of religion, its "natural seed" and the "transformation of religion" which results from it, as well as the incompatibility of the "structure of faith" with that of "political obligation", Thomas Hobbes concludes his reflection by insisting on the establishment of a purely rational policy, and this in order to regulate the relationship between politics and religion on the one hand and establish the foundations of civil state on the other.

given that political power is the result of the "social contract" established between men, it follows that all power is a secular political power, by which the sovereign retains the right to subjugate men and the clergy to "leviathan" authority, that is, the state.
