The creative text is a semantic energy that generates from the possibilities of authorship, and the meaning lies in trying to understand the text through the relationship between its elements and the primary contexts hidden within it.

the parallel text of the creative work is closely related to its semantic level, because it paves the way for reading and interpretation within a frame of reference that controls the determination of the intended meaning amongst possible meanings that constitute the nucleus of the text.

the novel of "smells of the city", subject of this study, relied on the margin technique as an element of the parallel text, which made the margin play a role in subdividing sounds, time, central points and possible worlds, which necessitated the search for its function and roles in the narrative text.
