Abstract EN

The present study presents an overview of the analyses of the intonation systems of different Arabic dialects.

It is focused on the analyses of the intonation of the declaratives in particular.

The study first starts with an overview of the studies on intonation in the traditional studies, then it moves on to present an overview of the recent studies on the intonation of these Arabic dialects.

In the discussion of the intonation of Arabic dialects, the present study depends on the FO of different declaratives in different Arabic dialects to shed light on the similarities and the differences in the FO of the declaratives across different Arabic dialects.

This is to provide an overview of the previous studies and also shed light on one of the future studies that may help to understand and to study the intonation of the declaratives in other Arabic dialects that have not been studies before.
