Abstract EN

This paper examines the role of Linear Programming (LP) as an important decision support tool for managers in solving allocation type problems.

It is shown here that LP type problems can be solved using different methods.

The paper also shows that it is possible to maximize the utilization of LP power as a decision support tool through the use of spreadsheet technology.

An illustrative example is given which shows that spreadsheet capabilities, such as Solver from Microsoft Excel, can enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the decision making process of managers.
