Abstract EN

This research aims to study and analyze the causes of traffic accidents on the main roads in Dhi Qar governorate, whether they were run over, collision, coup, or other traffic accidents, and the resulting various human and material losses, and to know the geographical distribution of these accidents on the main roads in the governorate and their spatial and temporal variation.

The study also aims to explain the causes of accidents and contribute to reducing their percentage in the study area, through the development of solutions and serious proposals that would limit the occurrence of this problem, which has become a phenomenon that kills people's lives on an ongoing basis, and the research included the introduction and the main problems and hypotheses on which it was based, and the boundaries of the spatio-temporal study area, which included all administrative units in Dhi Qar Governorate (districts) and the most important curricula followed in the study.

The first is a classification of the main roads in the governorate according to their geographical directions (North South-Eastern-Western), and knowing the number of lanes for these roads and the areas they serve.

As for the second topic, it dealt with the main elements of traffic accidents, namely (the driver - the road - the car), and the third topic focused on the geographical distribution of traffic accidents, their causes and methods of treatment, and the most important results reached by the researcher to develop solutions and proposals for this problem.
