a plethora of sicknesses and despairs tire their bodies, weaken their souls, threaten their civilisation, and challenge his achievements.

Fromm noted that the progress man achieved led to several identity issues.

he became increasingly alienated and materialistic and made him lose his identity due to the limits of his own understanding and due to the total surrender to his consumeristic desires.
