This study examines the nature of copyright and the exceptions it provides for libraries.

these exceptions contribute significantly to the satisfaction of the general interest of society in the context of respect for copyright.

the purpose of this study was to identify and discuss copyright exceptions applied at the library level, whether in the member states of the world intellectual property organization (WIPO) or at the level of legislative texts in Algeria.

the study concludes that there is a strong relationship between copyright and library services, which is based on the principle of fair use, or what is also known as the principle of balance.

based on the right of members of the community to access information without prejudice to the legal protection of the author and his work.
