Abstract EN

The article is entitled “occupational safety and health: theoretical contexts and legal frameworks-study how at Skikda's port institution” as well as its importance in Algerian institutions in general and the port corporation of Skikda in particular.

it focuses also on how to apply it according to the ISO certificate related to health and security at work (OHSAS 18001 in 2007), through a field study conducted in the port institution of Skikda.

we applied the descriptive approach and the interview as a tool for data collection.

finally, the study concluded with a number of results that signified the culture of occupational safety and health is strong, according to the place and the work environment.

it indicated as well as a significant decrease in work accidents due to its application of standard (OHSAS 18001 year 2007).

because of the positive occupational health and safety culture built on inclusion, and the meaningful participation of all parties in the continuous improvement of safety and health at work.

this requires open communication, dialogue based on trust in addition to mutual respect and cooperation to find appropriate, effective and sustainable solutions to prevent accidents.
