Batriyya is a Muslim sect from Zaidiyyah that appeared at the beginning of the second century of migration, as an independent group from the Zaidis in the time of Imam al-Baqir (peace be upon him).

It is noteworthy that they have many narrations from the Imams of Ahl al-Bayt, peace be upon them.

Especially that most of them are students of the Imams, Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), specifically the two Imams Muhammad ibn Ali al-Baqir and Jafar ibn Muhammad al-Sadiq (peace be upon them).

Their views and disagreement about Imams’ footsteps varied from one personality to another.

The Imams, peace be upon them, had a prominent role in confronting the misguidance and deviation that some of the Batriyya had reached as the Imams witnessed and identified some of Batriyya situations and used them (the situations) to reply upon the Batriyya.
