Linguistic studies in the twentieth century took two directions : the formal direction and the functional one.

the first studied the linguistic achievement in terms of form away from the circumstances surrounding its production, the second direction was concerned with studying language in the general context, and pragmatics was an extension of this direction, so it was able to find successful interpretations of language in the communication process, between the speakers.

in addition, communication according to the pragmatic vision is not limited to language only, but also to what surrounds it of external elements such as the sender and the addressee, the time and place of communication; to find the desired meaning.

the question remains : can the mechanisms of the deliberative approach be used and applied to the language of literature in general and poetry in particular? in addition, if the answer is in the affirmative, why did Arabic studies fail to study literary heritage, especially ancient Arabic poetry?.
