The aim of the research is to identify the intellectual framework of research performance, to identify the theoretical foundations of competitiveness in universities, to monitor the reality of research performance at Fayoum university in the field in the light of indicators of competitiveness, and to come up with proposed mechanisms to improve research performance at Fayoum university in light of indicators of competitiveness, and to use the descriptive approach.

the research reached a set of results, namely that Fayoum university suffers from some obstacles that weaken its research performance, including: poor marketing of scientific research inside and outside the university, lack of knowledge sharing between different disciplines, lack of competitive scientific projects with other universities and institutions, deficiencies in development programs.

the professionalism offered to faculty members, the weak encouragement of the university to make a map of the research that must be conducted within the department, the college and the university, the weak supply of laboratories with modern devices and equipment that help to carry out scientific research so that they can compete with international universities.
