Arabic-English translation of the multi-stylistic values of Usloob al-Qati'i "Syntactic Non-Concord"

Abstract EN

The present paper is restricted itself to the investigation of the phenomenon of Usloob Al-Qati'i, which is closely related to the syntactic non-concord in Arabic.

It is an effective device which can convey so many stylistic meanings such as: praise, dispraise, pitying, emphasis, specification, definiteness and modification.

It is also essential to point out that these meanings are hidden within the text.

They can be inferred by means of Usloob Al-Qati'i.

The study is an attempt to lay great focus on the shifts from a certain style in Arabic to another.

It also traces what behind these purposes regarding the rhetorical and stylistic purposes which speakers or writers intend to state out.

All in all, translators must not ignore these meanings in the source language (henceforth, SL) so as to avoid the great loss in translation.

Basically, Usloob Al-Qati'i is realized in two main concepts, i.e.

adjective and conjunction.

Originally, they agree linguistically with the nouns which they modify or connect with, but sometimes they have no syntactic concord.

As a result, the present study investigates the phenomenon of syntactic non-concord in Arabic in some detail.

The study verifies that so many mistakes could be made if the stylistic values resulting from Usloob Al-Qati'i are ignored.
