Abstract EN

Countries attach great importance to the students’ cognitive, ethical, health, physiological and psychological aspects in order to reach outstanding academic results.

the target population of the present research represents the students of ben Muammar Ahmed secondary school in Tlemcen.

the research identifies students’ mental health with a focus on the following dimensions: a sense of competence and self-confidence, the ability to interact socially, emotional maturity and the ability to self-control, the ability to employ energies and potentials in satiating work, freedom from neurotic symptoms, the human and value dimension, and self-acceptance and organic shortcomings.

the study also aimed at assessing maturity in relation to these dimensions, and understanding the existing differences in terms of gender and mental health level.

the researcher used the descriptive approach to suit it with the study variables.

the study sample consisted of 92 students of both genders from three educational levels.

the study relied on the psychological health test by (Amin Abdul Motalib el-Quraiti) with its aforementioned dimensions, using statistical methods such as percentages, arithmetic means, and t-tests to examine the differences.

the study results, after collecting and statistically processing the scores, concluded that there is an average level of mental health among the studied sample, with no significant differences in mental health in terms of educational level and gender.
