Abstract EN

This paper explores the themes of diaspora and transnationalism in Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's collection of short stories “the thing around your neck”.

by deconstructing Nigeria's narratives, Adichie examines the complex experiences of Nigerians living both within and outside their homeland.

through the lens of diaspora, the story deals with the challenges individuals face navigating cultural, social, and political borders.

the paper aims to analyze how Adichie addresses themes of displacement, identity, and the power dynamics inherent in migration.

this paper highlights the significance of Adichie's short story in shedding light on the multifaceted experiences of Nigerians in the Diaspora and the power of history in shaping cultural understanding.
