Abstract EN

School failure is a difficult experience for the student and his family.

The causes we have identified are varied.

Some are related to the educational system, and others are extrinsic and related to the family or society.

This paper will promote the notion of equity in education, as there is a close relation- ship between equality of opportunity and the reduction of school failure and drop-out.

Indeed, it is often pupils from disadvantaged social backgrounds who have the highest rate of school failure.

The recovered results interpreted average decreases in Arabic language, Islamic edu- cation, history and geography, despite the fact that the questions in these subjects are asked in mother tongue, the student does not manage to understand what is asked, since he does not understand the question well.

Through the responses of students and teachers to the questionnaire, we distinguished two main factors of school failure; factors specific to the school such as teaching and evaluation methods, the school climate, the content of the curricula taught, and the diffi- cult relationship between teacher and student, and factors outside the school such as the students' standard of living or the lack of support at home.
