The concept of competitiveness in the economy plays a distinct role in crystallizing the challenges faced by the economies of most countries, companies and institutions in a world that is increasingly open and affected by the changes that surround it, and the Iraqi economy suffers, as is the case with most economies of third world countries, from structural imbalances that included most economic sectors.

the research represents an attempt to measure and analyze the competitive performance and industrial performance of the food industries in Iraq for the period 2003-2018 based on some standards that can be applied to the reality of the food industries in terms of the abundance of data, as it becomes clear that the food industries in Iraq are industries that do not have a competitive level of performance and the level of industrial performance, and thus a decrease in competitiveness based on the indicators that were calculated to judge the level of performance.
